Privacy policy
no42 is a guide to fashion: what's happening, what people wear, and the pieces to catch before they sell out. We collect as little about you as we can. No ads, no tracking, and we never sell your data.
Who we are
no42 (no42.ai) is run from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. We decide how the personal data described here is used. For anything about your data, write to privacy@no42.ai.
This policy covers the no42.ai website. Our accounts on Instagram, Threads and Facebook are covered by those platforms' own policies.
What we collect, why, and for how long
If we give you access to the private preview
- Your email address, a short note about who you are that we add ourselves (for example, "stylist, Dubai"), your personal access code — stored only as a one-way hash, so we can't read it — and when you last signed in. We use this to let you sign in. We keep it while you have access and delete it when you ask us to.
- What you ask no42 to watch: radar tasks (categories, brands, sizes, budget, the alerts you want), pieces you watch and brands you follow. We use them only to show you matches. They stay until you remove them on the Radar and Brands pages, or until we delete your access.
Legal basis: providing the service you asked for (GDPR article 6(1)(b)). Signing in is optional; without access you simply can't see the preview.
Cookies
- no42_session keeps you signed in. It lasts 30 days.
- no42_theme remembers light or dark mode, only if you choose one. It lasts a year.
We set no other cookies. There are no analytics, advertising or social media cookies on no42, and no tracking pixels. Both cookies are needed for things you ask for, so they don't need consent; you can delete them in your browser at any time.
When you open the site
Like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to deliver the site and keep it secure. These technical logs are kept for a short time by the provider and we don't use them to identify you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a safe website (article 6(1)(f)).
Product photos load directly from the brands' own shops (for example, Shopify's image servers), so those servers also see your IP address. Links to brands, publications and Google Calendar take you to their sites, where their policies apply.
Information about brands and fashion news
no42 shows what independent brands release. We collect public business information: product names, prices, sizes and photos from brands' shops, posts and follower counts from brands' public business accounts on Instagram (through Instagram's official API), and headlines from the feeds that fashion publications publish. To see what people talk about, we also read public Threads posts that mention fashion words, through Threads' official API, and count how often each word comes up: we keep the counts, not the posts or who wrote them. We don't collect information about people who view or follow those accounts. Where this information mentions a person — a designer's name in a public post, for example — we rely on our legitimate interest in reporting what's happening in fashion. A brand that would rather not appear on no42 can write to privacy@no42.ai and we remove it.
Who processes data for us
- Vercel hosts the website: pages are built on servers in Frankfurt, Germany, and delivered through its global network (Vercel is a US company).
- Neon runs our database (Frankfurt, Germany).
- DigitalOcean runs our background jobs, which read shops and news feeds (Amsterdam, the Netherlands).
- Cloudflare runs our domain name and forwards email sent to privacy@no42.ai.
- Anthropic provides the AI that writes our news summaries from publications' headlines and reads brands' public posts. We don't send it your personal data.
Each works only on our instructions, under its data processing terms. Where data goes to a provider outside the European Economic Area and the UK, it is protected by the safeguards those providers offer, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. We don't sell or share your personal information with anyone else, and we don't use it for advertising.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Write to privacy@no42.ai; we answer within 30 days. If you think we got it wrong, you can complain to a data protection authority — in the EU, the one in your country; in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in the UAE, the UAE Data Office.
If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you have the right to know what we collect, to correct it and to delete it. We don't sell or share personal information.
How to delete your data
- Email privacy@no42.ai from the address you sign in with, with the subject "Delete my data".
- Within 30 days we delete your access, radar tasks, watched pieces and followed brands, and confirm by email. Your sign-in stops working at once.
- You can remove radar tasks and followed brands yourself at any time on the Radar and Brands pages.
We don't use Facebook, Instagram or Threads login and receive no data about you from Meta, so there is nothing about you from those platforms to delete. Brands can ask us to remove their information the same way. The same steps, and how to disconnect our Threads app, are on Delete your data.
Children
no42 is not meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, write to privacy@no42.ai.
Security
The site works only over encrypted connections. Access codes are stored as one-way hashes, sign-in sessions are signed, and only the people who run no42 can reach the data.
Changes
When this policy changes we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your data, we tell preview members by email before it takes effect.
